Why do black women wear wigs made to look non-afro?

Question by Ricky Gervais: Why do black women wear wigs made to look non-afro?
Have you noticed the amount of everyday black women wearing wigs to imitate other races? Why do they fashion themselves to look less black.

Some have BLOND Caucasian looking wigs!

Do they secretly hate themselves or do they simply wish to look like the other pretty girls around?
This is not a question about the colour of hair but the STYLE.

Black women CHOOSE wigs the ARE NOT their own texture.

LAST TIME I CHECKED WOMEN OF ALL RACES WEAR HAIR OF ALL COLORS NOT JUST THEIR NATURAL COLOR! HERE IS A BIOLOGY LESSON FOR YOU RICKY……BLOND HAIR IS A RECESSIVE TRAIT, MEANING YOU ARE LESS LIKELY TO HAVE IT! SO NEXT TIME YOU SEE A BLONDE IN ANY RACE, PLS GIVE A BIG THANK YOU TO CLAIROL, REVLON AND THE MANY OTHER HAIR DYES!

Black girls are already some of the prettiest girls around and their hair doesn’t have that much to do with it so I don’t think your reasoning holds up. They wear their hair every different way for the same reason that women do anything they do with fashion and appearance. They want something different and it’s fun to shake things up. As Cyndi Lauper said, “girls just want to have fun.” : D

It’s not about race, but they are trying to look beautiful. Beautiful isn’t attached to a race, but is of itself. For example, skinny, light skin or tanned, curvy, not tall, etc are attributes of beauty that women try to pursue. White women want to be tanned..does that mean they want to be asian or latina? Straight hair or Curly hair is considered a beautiful attribute and it’s irrelevant of race, as with being skinny. Many black women have curvy bubble butts…how many try to lose weight and get rid of that bubble butt? Most don’t because that’s considered a beauty attribute. Women of all races will try to do what is considered beautiful. Some other examples are painting nails. Many women who have straight hair will curl their hair…does that mean they hate themselves? Many women who have thin hair try to make it thick…is that self hate?
