Question by Alice: How to make a cheap wig into dreadlocks?
I have this old Lady Gaga-type wig that I want to turn into dreadlocks. Then wear it over my own hair to give it more body (as it’s the same colour as my hair). How do I do it without completely ruining the wig (not that it would matter – it was only $ 5.00) 😀
Hope this gets replies!
Answer by Mickey So you want to turn your old wig into dreads? That is very interesting, I would say if the wig is straight, then braid it up and dip it into boiling water. Let the braids dry completely. Once they’re dry take the braids out, by this time the hair would be kinda nappy, keep repeating those steps until the hair is nappy enough to hold a lock. Once it is nappy enough, take the hair section by section, depending on how big you want the dreads, and start twirling it around. Do note that it does take a while for dreads to ‘lock’ up so youll probably have to keep twisting it for a while.
Question by Clarabelle: How do I make dreadlocks with a wig?
I have a long wig which I need to make into dreadlocks for a show. What kind of hair gel could I use? And how do I make the actual lock shape? It needs to stay in shape for quite a while. Also it’s not natural hair.
Answer by Bballgal ok i tried to make a wig with yarn one time and it turned out looking like dreadlocks!!! get brown thick yarn and tie it to a hair net
